CoD YouthLeads on International Youth Day
On this International Youth Day 2024, CoD YouthLeads stand united with young people worldwide in celebrating their crucial role in driving sustainable development. With over 70% of the global youth population engaging online, according to UNICEF, the digital space has become a powerful platform for advocacy, action and for expanding youth influence in political spaces.
We call on CoD Governing Council member states to recognize and support the contributions of young people in politics and civic engagement. We also encourage Human Rights Council members to emphasize youth political participation in their upcoming September resolution on youth and human rights, acknowledging the growing involvement of young leaders in shaping policies for a democratic, sustainable, and just future.
As we champion youth leadership, we urge all young people to join the #Ready4Seat (www.readyforaseat.com) campaign aiming to ensure their participation in decision-making processes. Together, we can build a world where youth are empowered to lead and create lasting change.
