Secretary General of the Community of Democracies to travel to Mexico and United States

Secretary General of the Community of Democracies, Ambassador Maria Leissner, will travel to Mexico City on November 10-11, 2014, to participate in the opening of the International Specialized Course: the Use of Technology in Electoral Processes.

Secretary General of the Community of Democracies, Ambassador Maria Leissner, will travel to Mexico City on November 10-11, 2014, to participate in the opening of the International Specialized Course: the Use of Technology in Electoral Processes.
 
The course, organized by the National Electoral Institute of Mexico in the framework of the Community of Democracies’ Working Group on Elections, shall focus on the role of technology in improving electoral processes, including electoral organization, transparency, regulation, and transmission of results.
 
Following the visit to Mexico, Secretary General Leissner will travel for working meetings to Washington, D.C., on November 12-14, 2014. During the visit, the Secretary General will meet with representatives of the U.S. State Department, the Organization of the American States as well a number of think tanks and NGOs, including the National Endowment for Democracy, the National Democratic Institute, the International Republican Institute, FHI 360, the Council for a Community of Democracies and the Open Society Foundations.
 
On November 13, the Secretary General will participate in the launching event of the Freedom House’s Report on Supporting Democracy Abroad, organized jointly by the Freedom House and the Brookings Institute.
