Community of Democracies to hold its periodical meetings during United Nations Human Rights Council session in Geneva
Within the framework of CD meetings in Geneva, several events will take place:
March 3, Tuesday:
- Periodical meeting of the Executive Committee of the Community of Democracies;
March 4, Wednesday – meetings of:
- Working Group on Enabling and Protecting Civil Society,
- Working Group on Promoting Freedom of Opinion and Expression,
- Working Group on CD Governance and Effectiveness,
- Working Group on Education for Democracy,
- Special panel "Advancing Democratic Freedom: Views on Countering Civil Society Freedom", organized by the Working Group on Enabling and Protecting Civil Society
March 5, Thursday:
- 16th periodical meeting of the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies,
- Open event to mark the launch of “Improving Electoral Practices: Case Studies and Practical Approaches”, a new joint publication of the Community of Democracies and International IDEA;
March 6, Friday:
- “Artistic Freedom and Freedom of Expression”, an open event organized by the Working Group on Promoting Freedom of Opinion and Expression,
- Meeting of the Working Group on Elections,
- Special debriefing on CD’s Global Civil Society Consultations.
