On September 12th, the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies was pleased to host the USAID event: ‘Democracy on the Rise: Defending Democratic Institutions and the Rule of Law against the Kremlin’s Malign Influence’. 

Following welcome remarks provided by the CoD Secretary General Thomas E. Garrett, the USAID Assistant Administrator Brock Bierman presented the USAID’s Countering Malign Kremlin’s Influence Development Framework. The framework responds to the challenge of the Kremlin’s malign influence by building the economic and democratic resilience of targeted countries, and by working to mitigate the Kremlin’s attempts to undermine a range of key institutions.

The presentation was followed by a discussion moderated by SG Thomas E. Garrett.
