CoDYouthLeads’ Statement on the War Against Ukraine

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale military invasion into Ukraine. This is an act of aggression as defined by the UNGA Resolution 3314,  it is unprovoked and violates international law, including Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.

The brute force of Russia is seeking to destroy democracy and the rule of law in the geographic center of Europe.  Armed conflict always brings disastrous consequences for all people, particularly civilians, including women, and children, who pay the highest price. Russia’s military aggression has already resulted in civilian casualties and a humanitarian crisis. There must be no impunity for those who commit war crimes.

We call for the prompt and peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue based on the full respect for international law, sovereignty of states and their territorial integrity and profound respect for human rights.

CoD Youth Leads from all over the world call on the Russian Federation to immediately cease its military activities and withdraw all its forces and armaments from Ukraine. This is line with the United Nations Charter which appeals to all ratifying states to resolve international disagreements through amicable means that encourage international peace and security. Human rights should always be upheld and thus allow immediate access to all international humanitarian aid wherever is needed on the entire territory of Ukraine.

All democracies worldwide must unequivocally support Ukraine and oppose the aggression of the Russian regime. Diplomacy should always be the answer to international disagreements. Today we stand with Ukraine!

Слава Україні! Glory to Ukraine!
