Increasing cooperation: Secretary General meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania

On February 26, Secretary General of the Community of Democracies, Ambassador Maria Leissner, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, H.E. Titus Corlatean. The two discussed the country's continuous support to the initiatives of the Community.
Romania is a member of the Community's Governing Council, and a member of the Working Group on Elections and on Education for Democracy. On February 26, Secretary General of the Community visited the capital, Bucharest, and was received by the Minister of Foreign of Foreign Affairs (in the picture).
The Minister and the Secretary General discussed Romania's involvement within the initiatives of the Community of Democracies, underscoring the need to enhance the visibility of the Community within the United Nations and to cooperate in promoting its values and priorities. The Minister expressed the country's will to further contribute expertise to the activities of the Working Groups of the Community. Secretary General Leissner, from her side, applauded Romania's active role with the Governing Council and Working Groups.

Later, Secretary General Leissner met also with the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Laszlo Borbely, and presented the Community of Democracies to students of the University of Bucharest.
