“From Tallinn to Berlin: Civil Preparedness and Defence in the Baltic Sea Region in times of rising geopolitical uncertainty” – Secretary General Mantas Adomėnas and Chief Strategy Office Mateusz Mielczarek joined regional and international experts at the Centre for Geopolitics, University of Cambridge, and Hanns Seidel Foundation event, which explored the evolving landscape of threats, including hybrid warfare, and discussed the current state of affairs from civil preparedness to critical infrastructure protection, drawing lessons from Baltic Sea nations. It also investigated how NATO and EU frameworks are also contributing to boosting resilience in national systems, and the existing and potential roles of civil society and private sector actors in further supporting countries’ national readiness and defence strategies in this area.
The event underscored the need for Baltic Sea nations to develop a better and more robust, resilient and secure civil defence architecture for this geostrategically significant region.
