Secretary General to visit India

The Secretary General of the Community of Democracies, Maria Leissner, will make an official visit to India from March 30 to April 1.

On March 30, Secretary General Leissner will hold an official meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mrs. Sushma Swaraj. The Secretary General and the Minister will discuss India’s important involvement with the Community of Democracies.
 
Later, Secretary General will meet with representatives of civil society from India at the Institute for Social Sciences in New Delhi, visit the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training, and participate in a roundtable discussion about the state of civil society in India at the National Foundation for India.
 
On March 31, the Secretary General will visit the O. P. Jindal Global University and speak with students and faculty members about the role of the Community of Democracies within the current international diplomatic scene. Later, she will meet with the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Mr. H. S. Brahma, to discuss India’s engagement within the Community of Democracies’ Working Group on Elections.
 
On April 1, Secretary General Leissner will have a series of working meetings with high-level officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, and participate in a roundtable discussion at the Delhi Policy Group.
