The Community of Democracies’ Engagement in the 3rd Summit for Democracy
March 18-20, 2024, Seoul, Republic of Korea
The third Summit for Democracy under the theme “Democracy for Future Generations” will take place on March 18-20, 2024, in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The first day will consist of ministerial meetings and an experts’ roundtable, while the second day will feature workshops and debates led by civic groups from Republic of Korea and abroad. The plenary session attended by the participating countries will be held virtually on the evening of March 20.
Together with International IDEA, Open Government Partnership, and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Community of Democracies (CoD) has been an integral part of the Platform for Engagement with Civil Society (PEC), supporting the preparations for Day 2 to ensure the meaningful participation of civil society and youth.
The Secretary General Thomas E. Garrett will address the audience on behalf of the PEC at the opening plenary on the Civil Society, Youth and Cohort Day, (Day 2) on March 19, 2024.
On the same date, the CoD YouthLeads will organize an event on “Tech Talks: Digital Tools in Democracy,” with a focus on youth participation in elections.
