Overview

The Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies (PSCD) will hold a digital event commemorating the 20thanniversary of the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security on October 29, 2020. The event is organized by the PSCD in cooperation with the Community of Democracies Working Group on Women and Democracy (WGWD).

To recognize the global commitment to women’s participation in peace and security, in 2000, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1325. The Resolution for the first time underlined that “full participation of women in the peace process can significantly contribute to the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security.”

This digital event will discuss the achievements and progress made by the international community in strengthening women’s participation in peace processes, peacekeeping, and conflict resolution and highlight good practices aimed at its advancement.

The virtual event will have an open format and be held on CISCO Webex Events and livestreamed on YouTube. Follow @CommunityofDem and @CoD_Women for event updates and join the conversation via #WPSat20.
